What is perlite?

Perlite is a volcanic rock with aluminum silicate compounds and magmatic water. One of the characteristics of this stone is that due to high heat (800-1200 c◦), it expands rapidly, and depending on the composition of the original stone, its volume increases by 10-20 times. Perlite is one of the most widely used and efficient natural materials due to its unique properties such as lightweight, high water absorption, sterility, insulation, and fire resistance.
